LED Device and Test engineer
Micledi is a fabless developer of MicroLED displays for the Augmented Reality (AR) market. Part of the process technology and prototyping is developed in collaboration with Imec and will eventually be transferred to an industrial foundry partner for mass production. Our technology is based on an innovative combination of III/V materials processing, 3D integration and 300mm Si based processing combined with a proprietary ASIC to provide a self contained, compact monolithic AR display.
We are now looking for a LED Device and Test Engineer to strengthen our activities in Leuven
Tasks and responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the LED device and test engineer will be:
Electrical and optical characterization of discrete LED and LED displays on wafer level and packed device level Hands-on electrical and optical measurement of LED wafer and packaged devices. For this purpose, MICLEDI has an optical measurement lab for packaged devices and access to labs and probe stations at imec
Write software routines in python for measurement in automatic and semi-automatic 300mm probe stations as well as setups for packaged devices
Write data analysis software routines to extract device parameters and yield
Data analysis linking device data to process variations in close collaboration with the process integration engineering team
Measurement (e.g. PL, defectivity) and data analysis of LED epi wafer
Optical simulation (e.g. raytracing, FDTD) of different microLED device configuration
Experimental planning and layout lithographic masks (e.g. KLayout) for short-loop material evaluation (e.g. epi-wafer, color filter, quantum dots, DBR) in an external R&D process line together with the process development team
Develop evaluation and demo boards for microLED display characterization. Define the specs/functionality of those boards and coordinate the manufacturing and software development
PhD or master in Science or engineering with a minimum 2 years of relevant industrial experience in semiconductor manufacturing context or a related discipline
You have a track record in LED design, characterization and test, preferably from an industrial environment. Experience with micro-displays is a strong asset.
You have hands-on experience to build optical measurement setups
Built up of LED and display measurement capability by evaluating commercial equipment solutions, external measurement services and designing in-house setups
Data analysis and parameter extraction of measured discrete LED and LED displays
Optical simulation to link variation in LED process parameters to the measured LED data
This role includes:
Required qualifications:
You have a solid understanding of the physics of solid-state light-emitting-device (including defect characterization, lifetime and reliability)
You are familiar with optical simulation of light-emitting devices especially raytracing and FDTD
Experience in PCB design and programing of FPGA and microcontroller (e.g. Arduino) is beneficial
You have experience working with international customers in complex multi-site engineering projects, and can establish necessary planning and documentation. Project lead experience is a strong asset.
You have experience with software packages like Lumerical, RSoft, COMSOL, Labview, Matlab, Python, JMP
You are an experienced patent author, with a demonstrable IP track record.
You curious, inspire, motivate and take care of your team. People love working together with you.
You don’t mind occasion business trips (work onsite, present at exhibitions, meet suppliers).
